i actually don't really know sorry and i'm not sure if there's a specific mine producing lavender labs, or it's found with any labradorites just in smaller quantities, or what. hm. i'll ask next time i talk to my lapidary friends.
if you look up "spectrolite" though, that's basically super fancy labradorite out of finland, it can get really bright colors and be very pretty
[link] this is the guy i bought this stone from (this is a different one, looks like it's not quite as nice but does still have some lavender) keep an eye on this guy's shop or maybe you could even write him and see if he can find one for you it's always so hard buying labs online though, so hard to see the real flash =/
if it's any consolation - i'm incredibly tiny, so the only bracelets that i can ever wear that don't immediately just fall off are ones that are custom made for me. and i have such tiny wrists that they don't look good on me either. that's actually why i almost never make bracelets... it doesn't occur to me to make them, because i can't usually wear them
do you ever go to gem shows? it's always so much nicer to be able to handle the labs etc before you buy them.
My mother is that way. She has tiny wrists and likes bracelets *tight* So almost the only ones she has are ones I made her. I used to make all my bracelets small since she'd had me convinced her wrists were normal and mine were freakishly huge. Ends up we're both on opposite ends of the spectrum
I do. Not the big ones out west, but there are some decent new england shows. Just went to one yesterday and picked up some roughly faceted labs actually. The texture just seemed to suit. Kind of medievalish or fantasy inspired. (Also picked up a piece of meteeorite for myself, but that wrap is tanking. Not true, it's fine, but not what I'd wanted for the piece.)
Will do. They're similar idea to [link] and [link] but rather shorter and stouter. Same dealer actually. It's very mean how he keeps labs right by the entrance...
Nothing wrong with the stone. Man, I was all but petting it and the guy gave me a discount because I think he knew I wasn't putting it down. I'm just not pleased with my wrap. When I get photos I'll pester everyone for ideas.
pretty!! (and i just had to laugh at your descriptions on the labs, about how they're impossible to take good photos of... i feel your pain! at least you've got nice looking hands/fingers though, hah. i have to use myself as my ring model in photos, and i usually end up having to zoom really far in to cut out as much of my hand as possible from the pictures...)
i'd -love- to see the meteorite when you get pics. do you know what kind it is?
